PMRPY Deadline on 31st March 2019!

The Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana (PMRPY) came into effect from August 9th 2016. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The scheme has double benefits – firstly, the employer receives an incentive for increasing the employment base of workers in his company; secondly, a huge number of workers find employment in such companies. A direct benefit is also that these workers get access to other social security benefits of the organized sector too. The PMRPY deadline for registering employees via their company is 31st March 2019.

This scheme is for workers who earn less than Rs 15000 per month. In this scheme, the Government of India pays the employer’s total contribution of 12% for EPF and EPS, from the 1st of April 2018, for a duration of 3 years to the newly joined employees and for the remaining period of 3 years through EPFO to the existing employees. Before this development of April 2018, the government was only paying 8.33% of the employer’s contribution towards the EPS.

Labour Minister, Mr Santosh Kumar Gangwar, had said in his last update that as of January 2019 a total of 1.5 crore people had received PMRPY benefits and the Government of India had spent Rs 3648 crore for the scheme.

PMRPY Deadline details:

The Regional Commissioner-I (PMRPY) EPFO, Headquarters, New Delhi, stated that “options of New Employee and New Company Registrations on PMRPY portal will be disabled from 01/04/2019” This means that employees joining on or before 31st March 2019 have to be registered on the PMRPY portal as soon as possible. Otherwise, they will not receive PMRPY benefits. Similarly, employers too have 31st March 2019 as the PMRPY deadline for registrations. All registered employees before PMRPY deadline will receive the scheme’s benefits for a period of 3 years since their joining date.
