IPL 2019 | First Hand Match Experience

On 21st April 2019, we went for the IPL 2019 match – Rajasthan Royals Vs Mumbai Indians. This was our first match from the stadium, and definitely, it will be the last match ever. Those of you who go through this entire post, I can guarantee you that you will think at least 5 times before going for an IPL 2019 match. Furthermore, the people who have earlier visited an IPL match will surely relate to the problems that we have faced.

Till now, there are no news and no awareness shown about the IPL 2019 matches. No comments and no shares have been made regarding how inhuman the people are treated over there. This piece of writing mainly highlights the problems that people face when they go for an IPL 2019 match. We are here to make you aware of how much extra money the authorities charge for the general services. So, without wasting further time, let us proceed.

Issues at IPL 2019 Matches:

1. The “Water” Problem

This is the first problem that people encounter when they visit an IPL 2019 ground. The reason behind this is the prohibition of carrying water into the stadium. First, you need to understand the purpose of this particular rule. Many times it has happened earlier that when a team begins to degrade their performance, their fans end up throwing water bottles on the ground. This is the sole reason behind the banning of water bottles in the IPL 2019 matches. But, if the economy and profits are concerned, there is more to it. Read on to know them.

In an IPL 2019 stadium, the security levels are differentiated into three unique categories. First comes the outer gate where they will check you thoroughly. The next level is the corridor security which you are likely to face when you enter the stadium corridor. The third comes the stadium entrance security which you are likely to face when you enter the stadium. When you enter the stadium, the security guards will take out all your important items among which first comes the water bottle. Furthermore, when you enter the corridor, you can buy bottles over there but you cannot take them inside the stadium premises.

What happens in this case?

Now, the question arises “What is a man supposed to do when he is thirsty?” Let us tell you that, you can get Pepsi and Red Bull inside the premises as they have sponsored the IPL 2019 event. Now think about those who have diabetes and cannot consume these sugary drinks. That person is likely to remain thirsty for the entire duration of 4 hours of the match. Now, there is another thing that you should keep in mind. The price of all the products available inside the premises is higher than their MRP. Not only are water bottles unavailable, but the price of the soft drinks is double the regular MRP.

Furthermore, you can get out of the premises and purchase water. But, the prices are shocking and the sad thing is that consumers are not even protesting to this kind of crime. Yes, it is a crime to sell stuff beyond the MRP. This means the seller selling water over the printed price is actually doing a crime which people are not worried about. They are rather gossiping and smiling about it which is not at all right. Also, they have eliminated the price tags from the water bottles, and then they are selling it for 60 INR.

This means you cannot take water bottles for the older people inside as they are unable to move here and there all the time. But, there is an option. You can take water for them in a little plastic glass that is available at the grocery shop for 10 paise. But, that is not the solution. That particular glass costing 10 paise will require you to pay 10 INR when you are buying it from there.

Free Water

Apart from the above problems, here we have come across a solution which is not actually a solution but a problem. There is another option which you can avail. There are free water options without a disposable glass. People are throwing the glasses here and there and there is nothing called hygiene. Now, can you consider the problems? Don’t you think we should raise a voice against this? Come let us check out what are the other difficulties that people face over there. Read on to find them.

2. The “Coin” Problem

Another problem that people face is the coin problem. Coins are prohibited in the IPL ground. The logic behind this ban is also the same as before. People may throw coins in the ground which, in turn, might end up injuring players. The authorities even claim that this instruction is written on the IPL ticket itself. Well, if you turn the ticket, you will not able to read the instructions as the font used is extremely small.

Furthermore, if you carry coins to the IPL premises, you need to donate those coins to the Cricket Association no matter how much it is. If any of you is an activist reading this post, please confirm it through RTI how much money have they collected in this manner and what have they done with it. Let us do a rough calculation:

We can assume that 25 lakh people will be watching the IPL 2019 matches. On an average, if one person carries coins worth 20 INR, then the earning in the so-called name of Cricket Association will be 5 crores INR. Nobody knows where this money goes, but still every year people are exploited in this manner. So, friends, it is time we must stand together against this particular IPL coil collection system. If there is a donation box to donate the money, it could still be justified. But, there is nothing like that. Nobody is aware of where the money is going. We must all stand together and protest against this particular coin collection practice which has been exploiting people for years.

3. The “Food” Problem

In the name of food, only a few items are available inside the premises that too from the Pepsi brand itself. You can find Inox partners selling popcorns, Pepsi and Red Bull. The popcorn which you are likely to get there is even costlier than the ones you get at a movie hall. A minimum small pack of popcorn will cost you around 100 INR which is not at all justified. If you are looking for big tubs of popcorn, you need to pay 200 INR, 300 INR, 400 INR and so on. Also, make sure you do not purchase any merchandise from outside as you will get it for free inside. Also, it is important to note that the seat quality is pathetic and broken and people do not clean it often.

Furthermore, you are likely to get burnt and unhygienic pizzas that too for a huge price. So, what are people supposed to do? There has to be something. People must raise their voice. People must protest. You should protest and send a request to the consumer court so that they can take firm action against it. If you do not stand up against it, who will? Come let us take a bold move and stand united against corruption and exploitation.

We recorded our experience in the video below, so do give it a watch:
