UAE or The UNITED ARAB EMIRATES is a cosmopolitan multicultural country where people come to work from all parts of the world. People often take Dubai to be UAE but it is not so. Actually, UAE is made up of 7 emirates and Dubai is just one of them. These 7 emirates are AJMAN, SHARJAH, DUBAI, FUJAIRAH, RASAL, KHAIMAH and UMM AL QUWAIN. The capital of the UAE is ABU DHABI. There are many reasons why people want to take up jobs in the UAE. The income there is nontaxable. The work environment is safe and secure. It offers better standards of living. The quality of life is much better than anywhere else particularly if you compare it to India. Earnings are more and it offers job opportunity for women too.

There are a few things to know before you go to look for jobs in the UAE. It is mandatory to know the rights and benefits that you may enjoy while working there. Later you may find it necessary to know about social security schemes and labour laws so that you are not exploited at the hands of your employers. 13 Most Important Things to Know Before Applying for Jobs in UAE:

Visa or passport:

If you are planning to take up jobs in UAE or Dubai, it is necessary that you have obtained a WORK PERMIT for a minimum of 3 months validity. When you receive a job offer, your employer will make arrangements for your visa and work permit. If you are a full-time worker in Dubai and wish to call your spouse to work there too, you can do so on your work permit visa which automatically allows your spouse to work.  

Currency:

The currency of UAE is Dirham and you can exchange your currency at any money exchange counter. The current rate is 1 Dirham= 19.91 Rs.  

Working hours:

You should make a mental note that the working timings are from 9 am to 6 pm. That makes it 9 hours every day. While in Dubai you are required to work for 45-50 hours per week.vThese are quite similar to work hour standards of India. 

Leaves:

You are entitled to 30 days paid leave including 22 days paid vacation in one year. The probation period of a job is normally 2 to 3 months during which you are not entitled to any leave. Public holidays are however paid leaves. 

Gratuity:

You are entitled to a gratuity amount equivalent to 21 days of your salary if you have worked for a minimum of 1 year, and 30 days salary amount for additional years of work. You will, therefore, get 105 days salary for working up to 5 years. But it cannot exceed 2 years of pay in any case.  

Tax free nation:

One advantage of working in the UAE is that you do not have to pay any tax on your salary or earnings. That is why people come from all parts of the world to come here and work. 

Cost of living:

The country is expensive to live in as the property rates are high there. The inflation rate is also high making it quite unaffordable to live comfortably if your earnings are not much.  

Health care facilities:

You can avail top-notch health care facilities while living in Dubai or UAE. In fact, there are 3 medical cities. Sheikh Khalifa is one medical city, while Dubai Health Care City and Sharjah Health Care City are the other two cities that provide you with all facilities.  

Language:

Dubai being an Islamic country is primarily Muslim dominated. Arabic is the main language there. But being a multi-culture nation, English, Hindi and many other regional languages are also widely spoken. In fact, there are many airlines and other companies that offer you jobs if you can speak English and Hindi fluently besides Arabic. You can see the signboards written in many languages besides Arabic as it is a multilingual nation. 

Social conventions:

We ought to follow the rules and regulations of this country and not invite any trouble by being a defaulter. It is important to abide by the laws of the country and try not to break them under any condition. Smoking and drinking in public are not permitted there. Unmarried couples are not allowed to live together or even stay in hotels together. Bold or revealing clothes are not allowed in some parts of the country. Dubai is a very advanced and developed city, so it is not so conventional but in the other parts of UAE, you must respect and follow their culture and laws.  

Opportunities for women:

There are many opportunities for women there. It offers a very safe and secure work environment for women as people are generally law-abiding and hence the crime rate is very low. That is why Dubai is considered as one of the safest places in the world for working women and we see many women working there. It is indeed very lucrative and good for a woman to work there.  

Fines: 

Never throw litter around, or smoke and drink in public. Huge penalties are imposed if you are caught doing any of these offences. 

Cheap automobiles:

If you plan to stay in Dubai for a longer time, it is better to buy a vehicle as cars are pretty cheap there compared to any other country. Petrol prices are also very low as compared to India or any other place.
