If you have a debit or credit card, you could be a target of this scam at least once 👇
You’ll get a call from someone pretending to be a bank employee.
They ask you to verify the card to activate it for use.
Key red flags 🚩
→ They ask for your card number and CVV (or expiry date).
→ They threaten to block your card if you don’t comply.
→ They already know some details about you (name, address, PAN number), making them sound legit.
What really happens? 🙄
If you provide card details (number, CVV, expiry), scammers can use international websites that often don’t require OTP to complete transactions.
You’re essentially handing over your card for unauthorised charges.
How to protect yourself?
→ Never share card numbers, CVV, or expiry dates over the phone.
→ Banks do not ask for such details through calls, texts, or emails.
→ If in doubt, hang up and call your official bank number (from the website or the back of your card).
